Hello!
In class today, I had a presentation about a family in Bhutan.
This is the family. They are a family of 13, and this is a prayer room.
This shows what the family eat in a week.
They mostly eat grains, dairy, meat, fish, eggs, fruits, vegetables, and nuts. It seems very healthy.
There are two family recipes. The first food is "Bhutabes Shamu Datshi". This is the picture of the dish and the recipe.
Another dish is called "red rice". In Japan, we eat rice, but we don't really eat red rice. In Bhutan, red rice is more familiar.
Researching dishes in Bhutan, I realized the difference with Japan. Food in Bhutan is extremely spicy!! For Bhutanese, chillies are considered a kind of vegetable. Local people will add dried and fresh chillies whatever dishes they cook, and they also like to make salad with raw chilies. It seems that Bhutanese can't live without chili. I thought that Japanese prefer salty foods than spicy ones.
On the other hand, there was something in common. It is that both Japanese and Bhutanese eat healthy foods!
Lots of local people in Bhutan usually have a vegetarian diet, but it's common fro them to eat meat like pork, beef, and chicken. Generally they cook the meat with vegetables, such as onions, spinach tomatoes, potatoes, radishes, and pumpkins.
I love Japanese dishes, and I want to try Bhutanese dishes, especially red rice.
Thank you for reading.
